Cartwright James is currently representing a German-based biopharmaceutical company which develops, produces and markets autologous cell therapies for the minimally invasive repair of cartilage damage to joints following traumatic or degenerative defects. The cell based autologous product has been used to treat more than 10,000 patients up to now. The company is currently undergoing Phase II and III clinical trials to obtain European marketing authorization which is expected in second half of 2017.

We are looking for a: Head of Commercial Operations Europe (M/F)

Key Responsibilities
Create strategic commercial model for new product launch in Europe.
Create country budgets, incl. OPEX, P&L and contribution margins.
Setting up country operations based on selected commercial model: distributor, partnering, affiliates.
Leading country organizations in but not limited to forecasting, budgeting, sales strategy & national marketing to achieve yearly targets.
Monitoring of all marketing and sales activities of the region, incl. sales force excellence etc.
Coordination of budget implementation, coach and challenge country management in the execution of the business plan.
Continuously analyze critical success factors commercial model & sales strategy (in close collaboration with sales manager Germany) before and during launch phase for optimization purposes.
Manage daily business in multiple countries and provide reports to Head of Global Marketing.

Your Profile
Undergraduate degree with MBA or equivalent strongly preferred.
A minimum of fifteen years of successful biotech/pharmaceutical experience, with at least five years experience with similar responsibilities.
An ideal candidate background would include P&L experience at a country General Manager/Managing Director or regional level
Proven track record encompassing one or more of a successful product launch (es), the launch of a new indication, the introduction of creative concepts to significantly improve market share, or proactive methods to protect product erosion or loss of revenue from patent expiration.
Proven understanding of the subtleties of reimbursement, contracting and distribution.
Experience in developing and implementing yearly business plans across more than one geographical market and more than one relevant customer segment, including the definition of sales and marketing goals, strategies and tactics.
An individual who is intelligent, creative, enthusiastic and inspires people by his/her desire to lead commercial efforts.
Highly analytical and comfortable with financial reporting and forecasting, using data to project market share, revenue calculations and, perhaps, potential new indications.
Well-honed intercultural competencies to lead and interact with people of different nationalities.
Seasoned negotiator with demonstrated partnerships, alliances, joint venturing and deal-making skills.
Confident and disciplined leader with high energy and a sense of urgency, who makes balanced decisions and can execute them.
Sophisticated presentation/platform skills, able to communicate effectively with scientific, financial and business peers.
A level of self-esteem that keeps him/her "cool under fire", demonstrating skills in crisis management and the ability to quickly gain credibility and trust with colleagues and subordinate staff.
A collegial team builder who creates an environment highly conducive to enabling superior performance.
An independent thinker, but highly team-oriented, who is flexible and comfortable with some degree of ambiguity.
The ability to take and provide direction as the situation demands and be able to cultivate good working relationships with internal staff at every level.

Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required.
Pref. based in Germany, Berlin.
